Lapel Pin Production Process

Lapel Pin ProductionThe process of creating custom lapel pins begins with your needs and ideas. We collect information regarding the overall design requirements of your lapel pins, including logos, color schemes, and other desired elements. A trained and experienced lapel pin designer then transforms your ideas into a lapel pin proof, which is then provided to you for approval or modification. Once the design has passed your inspection and is ready for production, you sign off on the design and we begin the process of creating custom lapel pins from your design.

We start by creating a master die or mold from your artwork. This is done by a highly skilled mold maker at our factory. The mold is created at a large scale, and mechanically reduced to the size of your lapel pins. Once the mold is finished, your lapel pins are ready to begin stamping. Cloisonne pins, our most popular, and highest quality style pins are created this way. Soft enamel, and die struck lapel pins are created the same way, the differences lie in the finishing and plating after the pins are struck. Pins that are not struck include Silkscreen, and offset printed, which are created using printing processes similar to that of t-shirt, or magazine or business card printing. Lapel Pin Production

We start by using a high quality metal such as copper, brass, or steel to strike your lapel pins from. The master mold is placed in a stationery setting, and a loom or strip of metal is fed through a mechanical press which uses tons of pressure to stamp your design into the metal. This is done repeatedly until all of your lapel pins are stamped into the metal strips. The excess metal surrounding your design is cut away using a coping saw or punch, leaving the shape of your pin design behind.

Lapel Pin ProductionNext, your pins are colored as required by your design. Cloisonne lapel pins are made using a resin, which is fired at high temperatures, while Soft Enamel lapel pins are painted using standard enamel paints and left to dry. Each color is painted by hand, one color at a time.

After coloring is completed, your lapel pins are plated and finished in the desired metal plating. Our platings include 14K gold, Nickel, Copper, Brass, Black Dyed, Black Nickel, and Antique finishes of each, which give your lapel pins an aged, refined appearance which is truly unique. Each pin is polished and checked for accuracy.

After plating, your lapel pins are individually bagged and packaged to be shipped to your door!
